Wishtree is set in a quiet neighbourhood where a kind, old oak tree named Red watches over the community. Red listens to people’s wishes each year, which have been tied to its branches. When a new family moves in and faces unkindness, Red and the animals must decide whether to quietly observe or act.

I love how Wishtree tells a powerful story through the voice of a wise old tree. It reminded me of Charlotte’s Web with its gentle tone and talking animals. Readers who enjoy thoughtful, emotional stories with messages about kindness, friendship and standing up for others, will like this shorter, simpler story.
