The butterfly house is an excellent read for children. When a young girl named Holly helps a person find their way out of the thorny branches, she discovers that there is beauty in everything. The story expresses the hidden message of the silent battles people are facing. By linking depression to weeds that grow, the author was able to create a comparison young readers could relate to. By the end of the book, Holly learns that sometimes all that is needed to be done is shift the environment; vines can’t grow in places that are surrounded with blooming flowers and blissful butterflies. Overall, the colourful illustrations and metaphorical wording really brings the heartwarming story together. I would rate it 5/5 stars!
