The Making of Martha Mayfield
Martha Mayfield has always been the quiet kid. Martha is, after all, her mother's daughter. The shy child of an even shyer mum. And she likes it this way. That is, until Martha's mum loses her job. And Martha's teacher overlooks her at school. And soon, Martha realises something has to give. Can she really go through life being so quiet that nobody takes her seriously? Should she really keep all her good ideas to…

Martha Mayfield has always been the quiet kid. Everything was perfect, that is until Martha’s mum loses her job, her sister Iris is too busy for her, and her friends find their places at school. Putting yourself out there and speaking up is every quiet kid’s nightmare, but Martha is ready to make the most of it.

To many, this book is funny and ironic, but to me it carries and extraordinarily strong message. ‘Putting yourself out there is not the end of the world’. The descriptive language is second to none, it’s like a mini movie playing in your mind.

I would suggest this book to anyone who is determined to step outside their comfort zone and shine. This book deserves 4.5/5 stars!
