Thirteen-year-old Clem deals with fitting in and falling out in this authentic story of friendship, from a beloved middle-grade author. Clem Timmins can’t wait to see her best friends after being apart all summer holidays. But when they get back together, things have changed. Bridge is boy-crazy and acting like a different person. Ellie is wearing a bra and having a real-life romance. Clem feels left behind. When she makes friends with Tom, suddenly everyone’s…

I started this book because I recently turned into a teenager and just started year 8 like Clem. I really took pleasure in reading this book. This book was about 13 year old Clem attempting to fit in and dealing with demanding friendships and it would be categorised in the genre of reality. Something I admired in this book was the journey of Clem finding herself and not turning into someone else. This book can be quite relatable to tweens and make you feel like you’re in Clem’s shoes when you think about how forlorn she truly felt about being physically behind from her friends. I would definitely recommend this book to kids ranging from 11 to 14 years in age.
