Funny Kid Next Level is a great book to read. Set in Max’s hometown of Redhill, we follow the story
of a group of unique friends who are on a mission to become professional gamers. They encounter
difficulties along the way from friends and family. The storyline is easy to follow with smooth
transitions between events.
Key moments allow the author to surprise the reader with a ‘bombshell’, keeping you engaged. The reader joins a journey of problem solving and discovery as the friends embark on living their dream.
The use of illustrations throughout the book provides a welcome break from reading, whilst you still appreciate and follow the events. As this book is a novella, the length was adequate to the storyline, keeping the reader engaged from beginning to end. It is an action-packed book, with many twists and turns plotted throughout. I strongly recommend this book for kids aged 10 – 16.
